Ind. Gov't. - Put Capital Improvement Board (CIB) records online

The Capital Improvement Board (CIB) runs the home of the Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium, along with Conseco Fieldhouse, Victory Field and the Indiana Convention Center.

The Indianapolis Star's Behind Closed Doors reports today in it second item:

Bob Grand, chairman of the CIB, has made a point of making sure everyone who requests information about the struggling agency's finances can get it.

For years, citizens groups have complained that little was known about CIB operations.*

Cathy Burton, president of the Marion County Alliance of Neighborhood Associations, said she has requested financial documents for years, to little avail. Last week, she said she received a disk containing the documents she requested of Grand: lease agreements, budgets, board meeting minutes, financial reports and other records.

"Every other municipal corporation has a Web site with all of this there," Burton said, referring to city agencies such as the library, airport and IndyGo bus service. "That should all be online, especially when you're going to the public with a handout. You need to be open and transparent."

Asked last month why the CIB had no Web site, Grand said he didn't know.

Never mind that at this point. Put the contents of that disk online! Why doesn't the Indianapolis Star create one of its nice databases with this information?
