Ind. Courts - More on: "$1.3 million Allen County Courthouse fix OK’d"

Updating this ILB item from July 17th, the ILB has located this item on the Allen County Blog, dated July 31st, 2009, that includes a photo and some details of the planned exterior restoration.

There is also a nice 2-part video on YouTube featuring the Allen County Courthouse and its Preservation Trust.

Today Natalie Hess of WISE News has a brief story reporting that:

Crews from Columbus, Ohio-based General Restoration Corp. are restoring the Allen County courthouse in a project that is expected continue through next spring.

Workers spent two weeks clearing pigeon droppings that were nearly a foot thick in places. They will repair stone that has chipped away and replace existing mortar with a more resilient sealant.

Crews also will repair masonry damage and install new tuckpointing to prevent leaks.

Then the building will get a bath to remove lichen, soot, lime deposits and teal copper stains.
